The adoption decision

The question is no longer simply whether to adopt AI.

Organisations need to decide when, where and how to adopt or respond—and what should remain deliberately human-led. Two businesses may both say they use AI while operating at very different levels.

Deliberately retaining human-led work is not automatically rejection or preservation. Mature adoption may intentionally protect human judgment, trust, relationships or regulated decisions.

Seven Levels of AI Adoption and Adaptation

Choose the level that fits the organisation.

Level 7 is not automatically the right destination for every organisation.

1 · Rejection

AI is resisted, dismissed or ignored.

2 · Preservation

Existing methods and structures are protected; AI is regarded as optional or peripheral.

3 · Efficiency

AI assists existing work without materially redesigning it.

4 · Transition

Roles, processes and controls begin adapting around selected AI capabilities.

5 · Reinvention

Products, services or operating models are deliberately redesigned.

6 · AI-Native Operation

AI capability is designed into the organisation's core way of working.

7 · Agentic Orchestration

Coordinated agents undertake bounded work within explicit human oversight and controls.

Separately scoped implementation

Direction is only useful when the work can change.

Implementation can be separately scoped around selected workflows, role and process design, pilots, governance, automation or agent implementation. No standard implementation price is published.

Practical tools and platforms

Capability work may consider ChatGPT, custom GPTs, ChatGPT Work and Codex; Claude, Cowork and Claude Code; Gemini; Lovable; Otter.ai; and supporting automation and workflow tools.

Product names describe possible capabilities only. New Life Coaching NZ does not imply vendor partnerships, endorsements or accreditations.

Practical adoption needs clear human accountability.
